Course overview

This 3-day course provides instruction on HP BladeSystem administration and management. Discussion of the portfolio overview will ensure understanding of components and solutions. Students will configure HP Insight Control tools featuring HP Systems Insight Manager and HP Rapid Deployment tools. Labs engage students in configuring management and monitoring components for: HP Onboard Administrator,HP Integrated Lights-Out 2,HP BladeSystem instrumentation,Performance Monitoring and Blade Server deployment. Virtual Connect discussion includes examples of configuration with simple network setups.

Audience

•Administrators, engineers and consultants who will manage and monitor of HP ProLiant BladeSystem c-Class blade servers running Windows or Linux operating systems
•Administrators who will manage and monitor HP ProLiant BladeSystem Matrix solution
•Administrators responsible for managing HP BladeSystem enclosures with primarily Integrity server blades and HP-UX may prefer to attend HP's Integrity blades focused HC590s class instead.

Prerequisites

HP recommends that students have attained the following credentials or levels of experience before taking this course:

•HP BladeSystem Hardware: Installation and Configuration (c-Class) (HG813S) or similar experience is recommended

Course objectives

•Review the HP c-Class BladeSystem Portfolio and equipment capabilities
•Discuss the architecture of the ProLiant BL c-Class enclosures, power management and Dynamic Power Capping
•Discuss solutions and uses for HP Integrated Lights Out functionality, configure and monitor with HP Systems Insight Manager
•Identify and configure HP BladeSystem instrumentation using the System Management Homepage and HP Insight Control WBEM

•Identify HP BladeSystem Interconnect options for connectivity, review port mapping and monitoring information in HP Systems Insight Manager
•Discuss and complete initial configuration of Virtual Connect, and Flex-10
•Implement HP Insight Control with HP Systems Insight Manager to manage and monitor HP BladeSystem implementations
•Implement HP Insight Control with HP Rapid Deployment Pack to deploy operating systems to HP Blade Servers
•Discuss HP Support and Troubleshooting for BladeSystems
